Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)
Soft tissue treatment helps break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions with the use of stainless steel instruments along with therapeutic exercise. The beveled edge of these tools allow for stripping of the muscles and breaking up adhesions of the fascia allowing the tissue to heal correctly. Stumpff Chiropractic will utilize these tools along with other modalities to help decrease pain for patients. Stumpff Chiropractic is conveniently located in Plantation, Fl, 33324.

The tools can be made of a dense surgical steel or hard plastic. The weight of a dense surgical steel tool allows pressure to be placed on the area in question with less force. As the tool moves back and forth, the feeling of grittiness and/or adhesions may be present. These changes are between the fibers of the fascia and muscle which can cause pain, inflammation and restriction
Treatment can be provided in static positions or in dynamic positions that would help replicate when a patient is feeling pain. For example, patients with rotator cuff injuries can mimic lifting over head while instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization occurs.
